Russian President Vladimir Putin has marked Navy Day by praising the country’s naval personnel and emphasizing the continued modernization of Russia’s Navy.

In his address, Putin said Russian sailors serve not only in combat but also under some of the world’s most challenging maritime conditions, describing courage, loyalty, and devotion to the nation as the defining values of the Russian Navy.

Noting that Russia is bordered by 13 seas, Putin stressed that the Navy plays a crucial role in ensuring national defense, security, and protecting the country’s legitimate interests across the world’s oceans.

The Russian leader also stated that the naval component of Russia’s nuclear deterrence is being strengthened, while serial production of new warships and specialized vessels continues. He added that submarine, surface, coastal, and naval aviation units are steadily receiving advanced weapons and military equipment.

Referring to what Moscow calls the “special military operation,” Putin said the professionalism and resilience of Russian naval personnel have played a significant role, adding that tens of thousands of sailors and officers have received state decorations, including the Hero of Russia award.

Concluding his message, Putin thanked all members of the Russian Navy for their service and wished them and their families well, extending his congratulations on Navy Day.
